Thursday - We're Lovin' It!!

Last night Mia slept in her shoes! She has this pair of shoes that I brought with me and she loves them… better than the squeaky shoes I bought here in China! She is so funny and so smart! I can put any pair of shoes on her, turn my back, and she has the shoes I picked OFF and the silver ones I brought back on again!
Today we talked our guide, Elvin, into taking us to McDonalds! Elvin is awesome and gets along so well with Kevin! He said that McDonalds and KFC are special treats in China, a treat that most older people can’t afford. The only people there were younger people. Kevin was thrilled to eat his hamburger!! Mia ate Chicken Nuggets and fries, but no ketchup. We gave her a sip of Coke and then had to take it away after she had gulped half of it! That made her very mad, went limp, and stuck that lip out!
She has started to show good signs of bonding with us and it is not all pretty! Last night, she cried so hard in her grieving that we could not console her. We couldn’t even hold her because she is so strong. When she woke up this morning, she cried that heart-wrenching cry again. It just breaks your heart. We just keep telling ourselves that it shows she had a strong connection to her foster parents and that she is grieving them. Before adoption, we are required to read about attachment – a lot about attachment. And all of this is normal and good, but hard to walk through. Please continue to pray for us.
On the other side of attachment, she is definitely bonding to us also. Last night at 10:00, Kevin tried to sneak out of the room to pick up the laundry. Mia objected LOUDLY! We ended up all going! This is also a really wonderful thing! Sometimes, actually often, the child bonds with one parent and rejects the other. Not Mia! She wants both of us – all the time!
In just 2 short days Mia has become so precious to us. She's full of personality and attitude. She laughs all the time and wants to run wild all the time as well. God allowed us to be her parents! And we are so grateful!!

Hey guys. Mia is so beautiful, her smile just melts me. We can't wait to see her. Braydon and Brody are so excited to meet Mia. Brody calls Mia (china) instead of her name. I asked him today where Mia was and he said, "she is in the computer" we just laughed. We were at Mcdonald's today and we saw your girls there. They miss you. When I asked Emma about Mia, she just smiled SO BIG. Pops and Grandmama miss you too. I hope that your doing well. We can't wait to see Mia. Kevin, I think Brandon is ready for you to come home too :) LOL. We love you and miss you. Hugs and kisses from us to you.
Brandon, Atlas, Braydon, and Brody.

Bridget and Kevin,
Like everyone else, we are addicted to the computer. I check the blog multiple times during the day. I even have the girls in my office checking it with me (they don't know you, and they are as excited as I am). The pictures and stories just keep getting better. Can't wait to see all of the Kings under one roof. Savannah and Emma are gonna be the greatest big sisters ever. Mo says that she has dibs on babysitting (after the grandparents, of course(: ). Take care of that sweet blessing and please know that you are in our prayers.
Love Ya,
Laura

Amy says she can't wait to play with Emma's new baby sister when she gets home. (She saw Mia's Bitty Baby packed in the picture of her luggage and was excited about that.)
